Shaun Bartlett joins WWS Scouting and coaching!

South Africa, Johannesburg – World Wide Scholarships (WWS), Africa's largest and most distinguished talent-linking agency, specialising in sports, academics, and arts, is thrilled to announce the appointment of Shaun Bartlett as the Head of Soccer Scouting. With a stellar career as a former professional football player and former manager of Cape Town Spurs, Shaun Bartlett brings a wealth of expertise and insight to lead WWS's Soccer Scouting project, identifying and nurturing soccer talents across Africa for opportunities with European clubs.

World Wide Scholarships, founded over 22 years ago, has been a transformative force in shaping the future of young individuals in Africa by linking them to international colleges, universities and clubs through sports that match their unique talents and abilities. The organization's commitment to empowering the youth aligns seamlessly with Shaun Bartlett's dedication to developing soccer talent.

Shaun Bartlett, a household name in South African football, had a distinguished playing career as a striker. Notably, he played a pivotal role in leading South Africa to victory in the 1996 African Nations Cup and represented the nation in the 1998 FIFA World Cup, where he scored two memorable goals. His journey continued in Major League Soccer, playing for the Colorado Rapids and the MetroStars, and later making significant contributions to FC Zürich.

"We are honoured to welcome Shaun Bartlett to the WWS family. His deep understanding of the game and proven track record in developing talent aligns perfectly with our commitment to empowering young athletes," said Mr. Munya Maraire, CEO of World Wide Scholarships.

In addition to his illustrious playing career, Shaun Bartlett has made significant strides in coaching. After retiring, he guided Golden Arrows and Cape Town Spurs to the National First Division titles. His impactful role as an assistant coach for Kaizer Chiefs saw the club's remarkable rise from the ninth position to the top of the table.

"I am excited to be part of WWS, an organization dedicated to shaping the future of soccer talent in Africa. Together, we aim to uncover and nurture the next generation of football stars," commented Shaun Bartlett.

As Head of Soccer Scouting, Shaun Bartlett will play a crucial role in overseeing the upcoming WWS Soccer Scouting Camp, scheduled for December 2 – 3 in Johannesburg, December 9 – 10 in Cape Town, December 11 - 12 in Durban and lastly, December 16 -19 in Kenya. The camp presents a unique opportunity for young talents to showcase their skills and vie for a chance to earn a shot at a trial with European clubs as well as earn university scholarships.

In collaboration it is the goal of the organisation to create a world class academy and football club around the talented players identified in December.
